Siesta Key Children’s Easter Party & Egg Hunt

Location: Turtle Beach, 8918 Midnight Pass Rd., Siesta Key, FL

The Siesta Key Children’s Easter Party & Egg Hunt is a longstanding Siesta tradition and one of the most popular things to do for the Easter holiday. The price is $10 per child, with games and prizes available. Kids can jump aboard a Sherriff’s patrol car and an ambulance truck for an informative guided tour.

Arts and crafts, face painting, and some morning treats bring out the best of Siesta Key’s beach holiday culture in the biggest Easter event on the island.

The event is March 31st from 9 a.m. to noon.

32nd Annual Run for the Turtles

Location: Siesta Key Public Beach, Siesta Key Gazebo (south of the pavilion), 948 Beach Road, Sarasota, FL

Time to dig out those running shoes from the closet and prepare for the 31st Annual Run for the Turtles. Run for the Turtles is an opportunity for you to promote both your and the turtles’ health and well-being.

Turtle Beach on south Siesta Key is a nesting ground for many sea turtles, but human development on the island has made it harder for them to live and thrive. This run is the main fundraiser for the Sea Turtle Conservation & Research Program at Mote Marine Laboratory.

The run takes place Saturday April 1. The early bird price is $10 per participant; the day of it costs $30. The event schedule is as follows:

  • 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. Registration
  • 7:30 to 8 a.m. 1-Mile Fun Run or Walk
  • 8 to 9 a.m. 5K Manasota Track Club-Sanctioned Run

Amateur Sand Sculpting Contest

Location: Siesta Beach, Siesta Key, FL

One of Siesta Key’s defining features is the pristine quartz sand that makes up the expansive beaches along its outer shores. The area is also home to artists, both professional and amateur.

The Sand Sculpting Contest combines both of these characteristics in a tradition has been taking art to the beach for more than 45 years.

Sponsored by Sarasota County Parks, Recreation, and Natural Resources, the Sand Sculpting Contest offers participants young and old a completely free day of fun on the beach.

Whether you come shovels in hand with a vision for your creation, or simply stroll through to see the magic when human creativity meets Siesta Beach’s perfect sand, this is one of the most awaited Siesta Key events. Prizes are awarded for the best sculptures.

The event is Saturday, May 5. Registration takes place from 8:30 to 9 a.m., and the contest runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. It’s free for anyone who wants to come on out and see the sand building insanity unfold.
