Other St. Patty’s Day Ideas – Boat Tours

Whether you’re into viewing wildlife, tubing, water skiing, or stopping to collect shells on a sandbar, a boat tour is another great way to spend St. Patrick’s Day, Siesta Key-style.

Little Sarasota Bay forms the perfect harbor for vessels large and small, and is the base of the area’s strong nautical culture both past and present. Chartering a boat is a radiant and rewarding way to get a unique view of Siesta Key and nearby Sarasota.

Try Kokomo Charters at (941) 266-3776 for family fun or, for the anglers, Siesta Key Fishing Charters at (941) 244-3474.

Start Your Day On the Beach

Start the day with a cheerful beach drink and soak up some sun before you move on to Guinness.

Siesta Key’s gleaming white-sand shoreline is made of 99 per cent pure quartz, soft and cool on the feet, and divided into three main beaches:

  • Siesta Beach, in the north closest to the restaurants and shopping of downtown Siesta Key Village. This is the most popular beach because of the purity of the sand here and the wide range of amenities available to the public.
  • Crescent Beach, midway down the key. Also has beautiful white sand but lacks the amenities of Siesta Beach and lifeguards are not on duty. However, it is excellent for snorkeling, swimming and shelling, with safe calm waters for experienced swimmers.
  • Turtle Beach, in the south, where sea turtles are known to nest onshore seasonally and wildlife viewing is excellent. This beach also lacks amenities and won’t have lifeguards on duty like Siesta Beach.

Create Your Own Outdoor Adventure

This St. Patrick’s Day, create your own adventure in Siesta Key’s comfy tropical climate by renting some outdoor adventure equipment and exploring the area.

Family activities, like bicycling, can be new and exciting when tried on the beach, throughout the island or along the many scenic parks and trails near Siesta Key, which we have covered on our website previously.

For on-the-water adventures, try standup paddle boarding or kayaking, either on the ocean side of the key or in little Sarasota Bay.

Bikes, paddleboards, and kayaks can all be rented from our partners at the Adventure Tiki. The shop also offers guided tours, such as the “Mangrove Tunnels Tour.” The tour is an illuminating way to connect to the region’s natural environment.

In many northern areas, St. Patrick’s Day is often accompanied by chilly weather, snow, or rain. This year, let the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow be the white sand beaches, restaurants, and all-around sunny activities of Siesta Key.
