The 6th Annual Sarasota Winter Fine Arts Festival

Location: 1784-1790 Main St, Sarasota, FL 34236 (between Osprey and Orange Ave)

The Winter Fine Arts Festival is a showcase for eccentric local art of all types, including jewelry, pottery, and photography. The festival is unique in that it features meet-and-greets and work stations where artists will actually paint, sculpt, and make jewelry all while inviting questions and interaction from visitors.

This festival is one of the most appealing family friendly events in the area. The event is January 13th and 14th from 10am to 5pm. Admission is completely free.

Ringling by the Bay

Location: Bayshore Gardens. 5401 Bay Shore Road, Sarasota

Dance and sing with the Big Z Band at the Ringling Grounds this January. On January 15th, the Ringling Museum curators are hosting a fun musical performance with their Ringling By the Bay series. Tickets are $15 the day of the event. Limited seating is available at the performance hall.

This is a brilliant opportunity to appreciate and explore the famed Ringling Grounds. It features multiple museums, a mansion hall by the water, and stunning vistas of the gulf coast.

The Siesta Key Farmer’s Market

Location: 5104 Ocean Blvd., Siesta Key

If you just want to keep it local and casual, the Siesta Key Farmer’s Market is a perfect choice. Filled with local artisans and craftsmen of all kinds, the market is a local celebration of unique odds and ends you may find scattered through Siesta Key and Sarasota.

You can find truly unique works from local artists, such as: Mike Lee’s magnificent photography on display and sale, the wood-cut work of Tim Steller or the hand-crafted pottery of Lynne Ostroman.

Olive oils, green tea, seashell jewelry, fresh-squeezed juice, hand-painted China, soaps, carved candles, and many other items contribute to the wonderful identity of this popular marketplace. The market is every Sunday from 9am to 1pm, and various events surround it every week.

Classic Antique Car Show, Hot Rods and Customs

Location: St. Armand’s Circle, Sarasota

Classic car enthusiasts will get a ton out of this purely classic car show. The event is at St. Armand’s Circle on Jan 20th. It begins at 10am and ends at 4pm. Vendors will be set up with food for sale in the nearby area and the St. Armand’s Circle shops will be open throughout the event. Admission is free.

Celebrating Celtic with “Ceilidh”

Location: Sarasota Fairgrounds. 3000 Ringling Boulevard, Sarasota

Have you wanted to explore Celtic culture or tap into your Irish roots, but didn’t know how or where to go? “Ceilidh” is a Celtic word akin to social gathering, and it is your opportunity to see and participate in something unique. The event incorporates dancing, singing, food, and some social drinking. Come out and see it all for yourself January 26th, from 7pm to 10pm.
